One of the principles of DevOps is "get out of the way": if you are a supporting function ("necessary non-value work") then make sure you are not a constraint to flow of value.  Controls are a particular issue: we have to have them, in  order to minimise risk and ensure compliance, but they often accrete unnecessary ceremony over time, providing an optimal outcome for the governor not the value worker. Here are a dozen tactics for minimising their impact on flow of value from Require to Deploy.

Light refreshments in the form of drinks and nibbles will be provided, please e-mail if you have any special dietary requirements and we'll do our best to accommodate those requirements.

The Wellington Branch of IT Professionals NZ wishes to thank Westpac for providing the venue for this presentation.
