As a student member, you’ll be invited to a wide range of ITP-hosted events, including local branch meetups, industry panels, networking events, and tech-focused workshops. These events are a great way to gain industry insights, make valuable connections, meet potential mentors, and explore different career paths in tech. 

Join a National Professional Community 


ITP is Aotearoa’s professional body for people in tech. By becoming a student member, you're not just signing up for events; you’re becoming part of a nationwide community of professionals who support and uplift one another.  It’s a chance to start building meaningful connections and engage with your future industry, even before you graduate. 
 

Student Events and Panels 


Throughout the year, we host events designed for students, from industry Q&As and panel discussions to tech workshops and meetups. 

Here, you can get real-world insights, ask your burning questions, and build your industry confidence.  

Mentor Circles Programme 


Our Mentor Circles connect small groups of students with experienced tech professionals for monthly online sessions held over several months. You’ll join like-minded students who are also studying tech to explore industry insights, ask questions and get practical advice on preparing for your first role. 


Spaces are limited – selection is based on an application process. 
 

Summer of Tech Partnership 


We work closely with Summer of Tech to help you prepare for internships and graduate roles.  ITP student members get access to job-readiness bootcamps, technical and soft-skills workshops and employer events and the best part is, these are all free!  
 

Who Can Join?  

Student membership is open to anyone currently studying. Whether you’re at university, polytech, or doing a short course, if you’re aiming for a career in tech, we’d love to have you on board!

Cost 

Student membership is just $10/year and it's packed with value to help you kick off your tech career. 

Membership is free if your education provider is an ITP NZ Education Partner.

  • Yes, When you sign up, we’ll ask you to provide proof of your current study. This can be a copy of your student ID, confirmation of enrolment letter or academic record.

  • If you've recently graduated, we offer a discounted ‘Industry New Entrant’ membership,  a great way to stay connected as you take your first steps into the tech industry. You can learn more on our membership page.

  • We run Mentor Circles once or twice a year. All student members will get an email when applications open, just fill out the short form to be considered.

  • Feel free to contact us or your education provider and we can check for you.

  • That’s totally fine, student membership is open to all current tech students across Aotearoa, no matter where or how you study

  • Yes, you can cancel at any time, but with so many free events and resources, we think you’ll want to stay involved!
