With a backdrop of rapid technology change and the increasingly direct impact of consumer choice, Beca's CIO, Dr Thomas Hyde, presents his thoughts on what it will take to prepare for our future city life. He describes, what we can do already, as we develop our smart cities and what we need to do now to create vibrant liveable cities for future generations.

Thomas will talk about how we integrate technology into the more traditional engineering sectors, such as transport, water, and the opportunities emerging for more informed and collaborative decision making.

Beca is New Zealand's largest professional services consultancy and celebrates its 100 Birthday in 2020. The firm is 100% employee-owned, with 3300 people operating from three key hubs: New Zealand, Australia and Singapore. While Beca's origins are in providing a range of engineering consultancy services, increasingly this is being combined with ICT expertise, such as in Wellington's Smart Motorway. Beca's services extend across all sectors including education, industrial, airports, water, mining, defence, healthcare, transportation, infrastructure and power.

Includes buffet breakfast (vegetarian and gluten-free options available) from 7:30am. Presentation starts at 8am. Event finishes at 9am.
