How do kiwis take our tech to the world and how has Covid-19 changed things?
This week's free ITP Thursday Live webinar features a talk and Q&A with Siân Simpson, founder of Public Rally and ex-head of Kiwi Landing Pad, David Downs, General Manager NZ Trade and Enterprise and Hengjie Wang, co-founder of Kami.
With industries such as tourism decimated, the New Zealand economy is more reliant than ever on tech exports. But how do we go from good idea to startup to taking on the world in tech?
Siân, David and Hengjie will talk through their stories, plus what's involved in selling to the world from New Zealand, what uniquely kiwi support structures are in place and how this has changed in light of Covid-19.
As always, the Thursday Live Webinar will kick off with our TechBlog Live Tech Media Panel talking through the big stories of the week, and finish with an extended Q&A with the panel.
About the Panel
- Siân Simpson is an award winning global businesswoman, community builder and Founder of Public Rally, the agency working to build global communities. Prior to launching Public Rally she was the Director of Community at Kiwi Landing Pad, which has become the bridge between New Zealand and the United States for the innovative Kiwi technologists who dream of exporting their businesses overseas.
- David Downs is a General Manager at NZ Trade and Enterprise, currently on secondment to MBIE to lead up their work on taking NZ agritech to the world. Founder of SOSBusiness and cancer survivor, David has been at the forefront of helping kiwi tech get a hold in the international market for a number of years.
- Hengjie Wang is the founder and CEO of award winning startup Kami - an easy-to-use web application that gives millions of individuals the ability to view, edit, collaborate and interact with digital documentation. Hengjie co-founded Kami while at Uuniversity in Auckland in response to wanting a better way to take notes and collaborate online. Today Kami has gained over 10 million users with over 20,000 schools using Kami in the classroom.
The panel will be facilitated by ITP CEO Paul Matthews.
