Welcome to the Digital Leaders Lab 2019, a series of monthly breakfast sessions designed to enhance the personal effectiveness and strategic relevance of IT leaders in the digital age. Our focus is on developing great digital leaders who deliver value to their organisations through technology. The format of each session is a short presentation by a guest speaker on the chosen topic, followed by a lean coffee style discussion giving you plenty of opportunity to raise and engage in the questions you are seeking answers to.
Our topic for this month: Partnering for success.. a vendor's perspective
Suppliers and procurers of IT services have the same goal - they want to deliver a great product on time and on budget. When all parties want the same thing why is it that software projects so often don't meet expectations, blow their budgets, deliver late or provide disappointing results?
With the move to agile and lean, software development methodologies have been completely overhauled to speed up delivery, reduce waste and improve quality, but projects still often struggle to deliver.
Many clients and vendors have long, successful relationships that produce reliable, quality outcomes. This session will look at some of the characteristics of these partnerships that contribute to successful software delivery, along with some common pitfalls.

About The Speaker
General Manager Auckland | Catalyst IT
Katrina has 20 years experience working for software vendors. With a background in software engineering, she has filled roles in most aspects of delivery, including development, architecture solutioning, management and strategy. She has worked on the launch of stuff.co.nz, Spark's first mobile store and move to online self-service, and the digitisation of Government Cabinet papers.
Before moving to Auckland in 2015, Katrina ran a team that delivered architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and support services for enterprise clients. She has in the GM role for 4 years and in that time overseen a fourfold expansion of Catalyst's Auckland practice across the business landscape - from small startups to large Government agencies.
