A leadership conversation about delivering value from your technology investments

Welcome to the Digital Leaders Lab 2019, a series of monthly breakfast sessions designed to enhance the personal effectiveness and strategic relevance of IT leaders in the digital age. Our focus is on developing great digital leaders who deliver value to their organisations through technology. The format of each session is a short presentation by a guest speaker on the chosen topic, followed by a lean coffee style discussion giving you plenty of opportunity to raise and engage in the questions you are seeking answers to.

Our topic for this month: Starting up your Startup

Starting a digital business involves a whole lot of moving pieces and running a startup means solving an endless list of problems because many young companies face both technology and market risks like structuring, IP protection, raising funds, recruiting, etc. So, what are the key things you need to consider and keep in mind when you start up your startup?

A full buffet breakfast will be served. Please e-mail [email protected] with any dietary requirements.

About The Speaker

Ben Lenihan
Senior Associate at McVeagh Fleming - TMT Lawyer

Ben started work as a lawyer in 2004 after a varied post-University career ranging from making pizzas in Melbourne to fund management in London to teaching English in Prague. Along the way he also worked as a programmer on database driven websites and systems (using Cold Fusion, JavaScript, HTML, SQL and PHP).

Ben is a lawyer who enjoys helping businesses grow and develop. This involves realising opportunities and minimising risk through a pragmatic and commercial approach that keeps the business of profit making at the centre. Device and agreements are tailored and specific to the needs of the individual business - not cookie cutter solutions.

As well as experience in New Zealand, Ben worked in Central and Eastern Europe for three years for an English law firm. He brings with his advice an international flavour and a willingness to act with an international perspective.
