10 Customhouse Quay
The world of cyber security is fast-moving and complex. Helping New Zealand better understand and stay resilient to cyber security threats are the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ). Launched in 2017, CERT is New Zealand's newest cyber security agency. New Zealanders and New Zealand organisations of all sizes, have reported thousands of incidents in that time, allowing CERT NZ to collate a picture of the cyber security landscape in New Zealand.
What to know more? Come and 'peak behind the curtain' on July 25 and find out:
- Who is New Zealand's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ)?
- What are they seeing in the incidents reported to them?
- What were the real-life, stand-out and persistent threats of 2019?
- Hear about the controls that would have mitigated the majority of what they saw.
In this presentation, hear CERT NZ's Katie Wellington, Manager of Communications and Engagement and Nadia Yousef, Assistant Operations Manager walk us through the work CERT does. Hear how they partner with organisations such as Department of Internal Affairs, Netsafe, National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to work to keep us resilient and understand strategies that could be undertaken to mitigate the majority of incidents reported.
A division of Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), CERT NZ allows New Zealand to join an international network of CERT organisations, improving our access to information on potential or real-time cyber-attacks, and helping us play our part in the global effort to improve cyber security. CERT NZ is a key component of New Zealand's Cyber Security Strategy, contributing to the delivery of the Strategy's vision of 'a secure, resilient and prosperous online New Zealand'.
