Calling all IT Professionals! You're invited to a networking event that is designed to get up close and personal.

On October 1, Auckland will play host to NZ's first #LinkedinLocalITProfessionals from 5:30pm in the city. Come along to meet with fellow members of the IT Community, and hear from a panel of IT professionals on the benefits of being a member of the industry body that is IT Professionals.

Whether you're an existing member or one who is yet to join, we'd love to see you for #LinkedInLocalITProfessionals.

Here we bring you five panelists and MC Ryan Ashton.


Anja Tschachtli
Anja started her professional career in administration but quickly discovered her passion for simplifying and improving processes through technology. Today, she's a recent Business Information Technology Graduate with experience in IT Project Management. She migrated to New Zealand earlier this year and secured her first job as Application Support Analyst at Serko Ltd through the help of networking.

Ant McMahon
With nearly 20 years studying and working in the IT sector, Anthony is a qualified and experienced technology professional who specialise in helping businesses alleviate their technology pain and minimising their risk exposure. Anthony takes pride in his ability to quickly understand the technical capabilities any business requires to be successful, identify and manage the she solutions needed to get there, and then implement sustainable policies and processes which will support them. Anthony's experience in developing Enterprise level strategies, policies and processes means that his approach to managing technology is to avoid complexity wherever possible. He also understands that technology is fully of confusing jargon and so tries to speak in plain terms wherever possible.  Anthony takes pride in supporting business and technology leaders to ensure they understand what is being delivered. 

Igor Portugal
Igor is the Chief Growth Officer of Catalyst Cloud and the chair of the Auckland branch of ITP. Igor is one of the most well networked IT professionals in the country and draws much of his commercial success from networking with others. Igor has over 25 years of experience in NZ IT industry. Igor built a number of successful software companies and in the process helped thousands of New Zealand businesses implement technology.

Owen McCall
Owen is the author of High-Performance IT, a collection of short stories and unique IP that provides insights into IT leadership and delivering on the promise of technology. Owen is also a qualified accountant and was previously a partner in Deloitte Consulting where for several years he led Deloitte's Australasian outsourcing business before returning to New Zealand to take up the position of CIO of The Warehouse Group. In addition to running his practice Owen is a regular blogger and contributor to CIO and iStart publications and is sought after as both an event speaker and judge of industry awards including CIO 100 and the NZ Hi Tech Awards.

Shamalka Dona
Shamalka is a proactive and results-driven IT professional with approx. 9+ years' experience, spread across various companies and client roles and industry sectors. Her current role as Project Manager at Out There Business Solutions gives her a strong hands-on experience driving implementation projects for clients in the process of changing over the ERP systems to shape their business operations for the future. Resourcing staff for the projects both internally and externally, change management, client consulting and staff training are her key expertise among many other responsibilities. IT industry is an evolving one and she has always sought up for guidance and benefited being a member in multiple IT groups. Most recently she started her PGDip in Computing at Unitec and she encouraged fellow students in her circle to join ITP knowing that they could benefit becoming a member of the organization. She is passionate about the ITP community and envision to develop the next generation of well-rounded ITP Professionals by advocacy and lead by example where she can.

MC - Ryan Ashton
Ryan or "Ryan the Lion" is a multipotentialite - a person who enjoys doing a wide range of things predominantly around communications and include running A Few Quiet Yarns a No-selling technology networking event that brings the whole community together to social media, speaking and MCing.
