Introduction to Lean IT: Agile, Scrum, DevOps and more
Lean in IT is now a recurring theme in various forms, frameworks and methodologies. If you or your organisation is struggling to come to grip with Lean in its many forms, this short course is for you.
Lean includes Agile, Scrum and DevOps, Lean StartUp (Eric Reis), Lean Canvas (Ash Maurya), ITIL (Continual Service Improvement), The Open Group's IT4IT, and more, and most recently in VeriSM's new Service Management approach.
This workshop is a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of Lean in an IT context and its various forms, for those either considering starting or part-way on their journey towards Lean in IT.

- Introduction to Lean, its history and origins
- Concept of Waste, Lean Toolsets and Lean Techniques
- Understanding the Lean vocabulary
- Application of Lean Techniques to IT Service Management Processes
- Frameworks, Standards, and Best Practices
- Customer Orientation and Operational Metrics
At the end of the course attendees will have a more comprehensive understanding of Lean Principles, vocabulary, tools and techniques, and be familiar with some of the existing and emerging standards, frameworks & best practices.
IT Professionals who are either considering starting, or are mid-way through, implementing Lean principles within their own practice or team and want to gain a greater understanding of the tools and frameworks available.
Sunit Prakash is a highly experienced broad-based IT Service Management Consultant having delivered well over 20 successful client engagements in the past decade, covering the full Service Life Cycle from Service Design & Strategy, through to Service Transition, Service Operations and Continual Service Improvement - often in complex multi-vendor environments.
Previously based in Sydney, as Director of Baan Customer Service & Support Asia Pacific Japan, Sunit led a successful Lean Transformation Program. He also co-authored "Strategic Lean Service - a case study of how a global IT service delivery organisation used Lean to drive organisational transformation and achieve customer satisfaction".
Sunit is a Chartered IT Professional NZ, ISO 2000 and TOGAF Consultant, and sits on Lightning Lab's panel of mentors assisting teams at MBIE's R9 & R9+ Govtech Accelerator, Kiwibank's Fintech Accelerator and many others.
