TPN Presents: When is not testing, testing? From testing to user research and everything in between.
3 Queens Wharf
Question: When is not testing, testing? Answer: When it's user research.
In this talk, Rupert Burton and Yvonne Tse will share how they have both transitioned from testers to user researchers.
They will be sharing their experiences across a number of projects, including virtual reality usability testing, which illustrates the crossover of both worlds - testing and user research. Although their roles may have changed, their drive is essentially the same - to provide valuable information to help stakeholders to make informed decisions.
Please bring $5 cash. Registration details below. All welcome. The presentation will be followed by a networking session with drinks and nibbles provided by TPN.
About The Speaker
A former auditor turned tester turned user researcher, Yvonne is still in the early discovery phase of her IT career. She loves the challenge of testing but is discovering a passion for all things to do with the user. More recently, she has been focusing on accessibility, crowd testing, analysis and visualisation as part of her consulting role at Assurity, and loves the fact that she has been able to learn a vast range of skills over a short period of time.'
Rupert cannot claim to be in the early phase of his career, but clearly still can't make his mind up about what he wants to do. A psychology graduate, he worked in television as a camera operator for many years before moving to New Zealand and starting in IT. He's tried being a Test Analyst, Test Engineer and Test Lead but got frustrated with working on projects that didn't focus on the needs of users. He managed to orchestrate a move into UX by building a service from scratch with Yvonne.
