ITP Auckland Presents: Information Reuse and Data Markets: An overview of the New Zealand Data Commons
Level 4 Rabobank Tower
2 Commerce St
Technology driving big data analytics are now mainstream commodities and AI/Machine-Learning infrastructure is following suit. To make use of these technology stacks- and the associated utility computing- requires access to data and algorithmic know-how.
The Data Commons is a new open project that aims to enable access to, and accountable reuse of data across New Zealand. Data often locked away due to concerns for privacy, misuse, quality, lack of consent, or anticipated proprietary interest. The objective is to create open network markets for data, integrating services across different organisations to facilitate the flow and use of information. Building a foundation for the trusted and efficient reuse of data across many domains-of-interests; to build an ecosystem of data-services that can be dynamically composed in an accountable and transparent manner.
The talk will survey various attempts at sharing data for public good, then cover the motivation, objectives, and architecture of the Data Commons; illustrating where it fits into the evolving digital technology landscape.
Arrive at 5:45pm for a 6:15pm start.
Networking and refreshments to follow.
ITP Auckland Branch wishes to thank Catalyst for sponsoring this event.
