What do politicians need to know? - Discussion series
It’s election year again! Digital Technology industry challenges are hard to understand when you’re not part of our community and they are material to the future of our economy. So what do the politicians need to know?
This series is designed to first identify all of the issues we feel politicians and political parties need to know, then prioritise these into a shorter list of focus areas. Then for each prioritised focus areas collaborate on writing up a discussion paper – lets call them short explainer papers - , with the paper to be shaped and edited by a smaller group of members.
To kick this off we will run a fortnightly meetup series at lunchtimes on a Thursday – and continue them for as long as the membership wants to continue / feel there are more topics to tackle.
The first meetup will be to surface a long list of topics and start the prioritisation process. Please come armed with your thoughts at a high level – AI, the education system, cyber security threats, misinformation, disinformation, maturity and professionalism – whatever you think we should be writing up a short explainer paper on.
The subsequent meetups will be to start to dive into the prioritised topics. You will be able to contribute via these meetups and by contributing your thoughts and experience into a collaborative document.
Schedule
Here are the initial dates for this series of meetups:
- Thursday 23rd February midday – 1pm – utilising breakout groups we will identify topics and start to prioritise.
- Thursday 9th March midday – 1pm – deeper dive into prioritised topics, what is IT Professional’s position? How do we best present these complex concepts to politicians?
- Thursday 30th March midday – 1pm – deeper dive into further prioritised topics, what is IT Professional's position?
Anyone who is able to volunteer to lead a breakout group discussion at these events, or support the editing of the explainer papers please let us know via [email protected]
Please note that this session may be video or audio recorded for viewing by other members at a later date. As it is possible that audience members may be incidentally recorded, please let us know if you specifically want to be excluded and we will ensure you are not shown.
