Meridian Energy has recognised that their data holds immense value, especially in an automated future, driven by data analytics.

In this presentation we will hear from Marcus Southam, Meridian Energy's Head of BI and Analytics. Marcus will discuss his strategy bringing out-sourced business intelligence and analytics capability in-house while rebuilding a team internally at Meridian with a focus on data driven decision making.

Please arrive at 4:15 for a 4:30 start.

About The Speaker

Head of BI and Analytics (ICT) at Meridian Energy, Marcus Southam has been working in the IT industry for more than 20 years - specialising in Microsoft and Oracle technology stacks from development through to consulting and senior management. Joining Meridian Energy in 2017, Marcus was brought on to transform the internal development team from an out-sourced vendor model.

Prior to Meridian, Marcus spent 3 years in global consulting working across APAC and the Middle East with large data warehousing projects. Previously, he has led Microsoft Development teams working in the digital forensics sector - building forensic tools on Microsoft platforms for global agencies including the Metropolitan Police in the UK for electronic crime investigations.

Marcus is MCSE, MCSA certified across Microsoft Azure data platform and SQL Server stacks. He often speaks at conferences across APAC on data analytic themes.
