Decision-making has always mattered: human history is a chronicle of good and bad (and ugly and divine!) decisions. As Napoleon (1769-1821) once said, "Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide." In this talk, Paul will introduce Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM), i.e. prioritising, ranking or choosing from among competing alternatives or individuals based on considering multiple criteria or objectives, sometimes (depending on the application) subject to a budget constraint. He will also discuss why MCDM is increasingly used by business and government organisations and individuals, the burgeoning MCDM software industry and some of his own adventures as an academic-entrepreneur.

Light catering is included with this event, please e-mail [email protected] if you have any special dietary requirements.
